Jocey talks to us about her experience of studying her CIPD Level 5 Certificate, and why she enjoyed learning with ICS Learn.
I am currently a Store Manager for the French fashion brand, Sandro and I am based in Brighton. I am undertaking the Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management this year.
I previously studied at university but found myself drawn to managing people in my retail roles and started to pursue retail management.
Retail management revolves heavily around all things HR - recruitment, reward, development - and so naturally my interest in HR started to pique as I learned more and gained more experience. I realised I was really enjoying this side of my role and I wanted to consider how I could take this further, so I began to research how to develop my HR career.
I was originally recommended a CIPD course by my own HR advisor. She told me how her friends had pursued amazing careers following completion and this peaked my interest.
After doing my research, I decided to choose ICS due to the flexibility they offered and the topics they covered. Online learning seemed like the obvious choice for me as I needed the freedom to choose when I study alongside working.
My course has been really engaging and I have taken on so much new information. I find myself naturally using what I have learned in my role- so I know I've picked the right course! My tutors are always quick to reply and there are many ways to connect with the course, tutors and other students- so I always feel supported!
I am planning to move into the HR industry after completion of my role as I will have the experience and qualification to move forward. I definitely recommend ICS for studying- it is well organised, flexible and has affordable payment options too- which was a huge help for me also!
