If you have no or minimal bookkeeping experience, or if you haven't yet mastered essential skills like double-entry bookkeeping, start with the AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping. Most AAT students begin at Foundation level.
The AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping is your next step once you have a firm grasp of all the topics covered on the Foundation Certificate, whether you've gained it by studying the Foundation course or by working in bookkeeping or finance.
Not sure if you have the skills you need to begin at Advanced level? We recommend the AAT Skillcheck. It’s a 30-minute multiple-choice test that will suggest the right level for you based on your accounting knowledge.
If you plan on completing both bookkeeping qualifications, you can save money and transition smoothly by studying our Foundation & Advanced combined bookkeeping course.
Bookkeeping covers only one small area of accounting. If you’d like a broader financial skillset and more varied job opportunities, our AAT Accountancy courses could be for you.
Before you enrol with us, our expert AAT advisors will talk through your experience, education, and ambitions to ensure you’re choosing the right course for you.
