AAT Student Stories: Melissa Beale | AAT Level 2 Review

Melissa wanted to develop her accounting skills and excel in her organisation, so she decided to study an AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting. Here's how she got on. 

ICS Learn is a great way to learn around your social life and progress in your career.

I started a career in accounts by chance. I was working as an office manager and started working alongside our finance manager and during my quiet times, I started to help with finance and learn standard principles.

I was encouraged to think about gaining an AAT qualification and the company advised they would support this. I thought it would be a great opportunity, but I was not sure how I would do this.

After researching ways to learn online or locally, I was really impressed by the ICS Learn platform and decided to go down this route for me to fit it around my new puppy and career.

I was worried at first to see if I could keep to a schedule and make time to study but the platform offers a schedule to help keep you on track and a tutor for any queries. I was also worried if I could stick to a course and turning 30, I did not want to go back to a schoolroom to learn.

My tutor has been excellent and knowing someone is there if you need that extra bit of help, is a great relief. The set up that ICS provides you with includes practise tests, progress checks and additional information, which really helps you to check that you're on track and makes it a more interactive way to learn, which has really helped me.  

Since passing my first level, I have progressed into a full accounting role, which I love and I am continuing with my AAT qualification while learning on the job.

I'm progressing in my career and working my way up within the company I currently work for as it grows, and I hope to use my new skills and manage a team.

I would definitely recommend ICS learn if you need to fit it around, children, social life, pets, or anything else in your life and will be recommending it as a training tool for my colleagues and team.
