AAT Student Stories: Jemma Henderson | AAT Level 2 Review

Jemma decided to take on a flexible AAT Level 2 Foundation qualification with us to go after her career goals while she manages her busy home life. Find out more about her story below. 

Following a lengthy career in banking, I took a break to have children. With both now at school, I began to look for part-time work and took on a part-time job around school hours.

It soon became apparent to me that despite now being unable to travel into a city centre for work, I wasn’t prepared to give up on my career aspirations and still wanted a working career. 

My work history was very niche and I knew I would need to retrain in a new field. I have always enjoyed numeracy and have good attention to detail so I knew finance would be a good option. 

Having done some research, I decided to look at and focus on accountancy. This would give me a wider net of jobs I could apply for and also long-term offers to be self-employed. 

I reviewed the various courses on offer, the variety of training providers, and their respective styles and decided that ICS Learn would be the best fit for me.

The course so far has exceeded my expectations. All material is provided online (although ICS Learn do offer discounts to purchase additional textbook material from a partner provider).

The course content is current and relevant to real-life scenarios and easy to follow through. There are online classrooms that you can attend or alternatively, there are recorded options that can be viewed at a time convenient to yourself.

These online courses are brilliant and provide the option to ask questions with instant answers.  My tutor is very attentive, always providing prompt results and feedback which has really built my confidence. 

I am partway through the course as and have already secured employment in the field I was looking at. I would definitely recommend ICS to anyone looking to begin a career in finance.
