Accountancy Student Stories:
AAT Student Stories: Nicola Payne | AAT Level 2 & 3 Review

Nicola Payne

AAT Level 2 & 3 Combined Course in Accounting

Nicola has always had a career in accountancy at the back of her mind.  She studied a AAT Level 2 & 3 Combined Course in Accounting to start a new career.

I studied photography at university following a long-standing passion for the art. Once I’d finished the course just over four years ago, I went straight into a job as a sales consultant for a photo retailer.

I have enjoyed my job over the years, however I feel I have achieved as much as I can in the role.

A career in accountancy has always been at the back of my mind and I thought it would be a great way to enhance my earning potential and allow me to progress.

During the third lockdown, the showroom I work had to close, therefore, I was moved to a different area of the business, this meant I had more days off a week. As I now had more time on my hands, I saw it as a great opportunity to get myself started with studying accountancy.

As I wanted to be able to study whilst keeping my full-time job, I decided to look through the AAT website to find online courses.

I found ICS Learn, and the combined Foundation and Advanced course they offered, this fitted with what I needed in terms of the relaxed studying, 1:1 tutor support and live lessons they offer.

I sent in my enquiry and within a few days I had all of my questions answered by Colin and he’d helped get me enrolled on the course, it couldn’t have been easier.

I have been studying for just over a month now and I am so happy I started when I did.

I have been thoroughly enjoying the course and although I haven’t had to use many of the resources yet (e.g. tutor support), everyone has been very welcoming and made sure I am aware of where the support is if I need it.

My tutor contacted me within a few days of enrolling to introduce herself and make me feel welcome.

I look forward to continuing my studies and I am excited to finish the course and enhance my career opportunities.
