I currently have a role at Aviva to administer business transfers for financial advice firms. I'm also currently working from home and am fortunate that Aviva has taken the stance not to furlough anyone.
The decision was taken to change the organisation to give us more flexibility to work where we want in the future.
I've recently finished my CIPD Level 5 in Human Resource Management, during the start of the lockdown period. I feel lucky that I chose to study online and that COVID-19 in no way slowed my progress with the course.
I originally chose to start the course as a way of switching career. I studied sports science at university and felt that it didn't lead to much in the way of employment.
I decided to move towards HR, which I feel has professional value. As I also live in York and there are currently no institutions that offer this diploma nearby, so when I learned I could complete my HR diploma remotely while working full time, I was really pleased.
I've found studying with ICS Learn so convenient. I was able to work when and where I wanted but still received any support I need from tutors. They had timely, knowledgeable responses and were always willing to help.
In my current role, I have started collaborating with L&D teams before I hope to secure my move into HR within the next six months.
I'd really recommend ICS Learn to anyone who values flexibility, like me. I found the course very manageable while working full time as long as you are prepared for the commitment.
