Following years of education in Sport, I completed a Masters’ Degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences at Teesside University in 2004. From this, I progressed straight into teaching sport for a private education company, for whom I delivered a range of sport and fitness qualifications to a very demanding youth population in an underprivileged area.
I progressed to teaching in further Education in 2007 and I am now in my 10th year. where I have enjoyed teaching across a vast array of qualifications and levels, ranging from Entry Level to Level 5 teaching BTEC Qualifications, Foundation Degrees in Sport and more relevantly a vast range of Professional Fitness Qualifications.
I am currently the Lead Internal Verifier and main point of contact for all of the fitness qualifications (including Level 2 Gym Instruction, Level 3 Personal Training, Level 3 Exercise Referral, Level 4 Obesity and Weight Management for Diabetic Clients and L4 Practical Interventions for Lower Back Pain), In addition the this, I teach and lead on a number of short courses such as Nutrition for Exercise and Performance, Instructing Kettlebells, Studio Cycling, Circuits and Suspension Training to name a few.
I have used my passion for fitness and knowledge to coach and condition semi-professional football teams, train individuals, and provide help and advice for numerous people with varying circumstances. With my current role being an Awarding Body Centre Contact, Tutor, Assessor and Lead Verifier, I am in a prime position to assist and guide students with their learning, and provide valuable experience and support with their route into the fitness industry.
