The CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing (Digital Marketing) is a professional marketing qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. It's perfect for you if you're working in entry-level or marketing support role, or if your current job involves elements of marketing. 

Marketing is a key driver of success in today's dynamic organisations. This course will give you the contemporary marketing skills and knowledge you need to take on a central role within any modern marketing team. 

It includes a module on the constantly evolving and increasingly important subject of digital marketing, so you develop the skills and toolkit you need to excel in the digital landscape.

You'll look at the role and function of marketing in depth, and learn to adapt the marketing mix to suit customer needs. You'll also learn about the importance of effective communications, building sustainable relationships with customers, and the components of the marketing communications mix.

Once you've completed the course, you'll be well-equipped to plan and carry out successful tactical marketing activities that'll push both your company and your career forward. 


To achieve the CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing (Digital Marketing), you'll complete the following three modules:

  1. Marketing
  2. Integrated Communications
  3. Digital Marketing

Each of these three modules has 15 credits, so the course totals 45 credits. If you don't attain the full qualification, you can achieve a distinct, self-contained Award for each module that you pass.

Marketing

  1. This module is about recognising the importance of marketing's role in driving success and delivering results.
  2. You'll come to fully understand the function of marketing within an organisation, and you'll learn how an appreciation of customer behaviour can enable effective targeting.
  3. The module explains how external environmental influences affect planning and how information enables decision making.
  4. It also teaches you the elements of the marketing mix and how you can apply these to address market and customer needs. 

Integrated Communications

  1. This module will teach you the importance of effective internal and external communications in building sustainable relationships and delivering customer value.
  2. You'll learn the importance of communications planning in delivering marketing solutions, and how product and brand management can enable organisations to deliver customer value.
  3. You'll also study the components of the marketing communications mix and integrated marketing communications (IMC) planning. 

Digital Marketing

  1. This module is about appreciating the importance of the ever-evolving, dynamic digital landscape, and understanding how to develop skills to improve digital marketing effectiveness. 
  2. It'll allow you to understand the nature of the challenges and opportunities you'll face in the digital environment, and it'll give you the skills and tools you need to support and enhance marketing activities. 
  3. You'll also learn about the importance of effective digital monitoring and measurement techniques in improving digital marketing performance.

This course is ideal if you've got some marketing experience, such as as a marketing assistant or a manager whose role involves some element of marketing. 

To enrol, you should have at least one of the following:

  1. CIM Level 3 Introductory or Foundation Certificate in Marketing 
  2. Any relevant Level 3 Introductory or Foundation Certificate in Marketing 
  3. Professional practice (suggested one year in a marketing role)
  4. Any relevant Level 3 qualification
  5. Any UK degree or international equivalent
  6. International Baccalaureate (equivalent to NQF Level 3 and above)

If English isn't your first language, you'll also need to have achieved one of the following within the last two years:

  1. IELTS Academic Module with an overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above)
  2. Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above is required.

We'll also consider equivalent alternatives.

You'll complete a CIM diagnostic test prior to enrolling on this course. Our course advisors will talk you through the process.

Practice Assessments

During your course, you'll complete 1 multiple choice test paper and 2 tutor-marked test papers so you can track your progress and identify areas for improvement. These won't count towards your final grade.

CIM's assessment fees are currently £130.00 per module, so £390 for the course. These fees are set by CIM and as such could change.
