The CIM Level 3 Certificate in Marketing is suitable for people at any stage of their career who need a firm foundation in basic marketing principles. It's perfect if you're just starting out in marketing, if you're an entrepreneur, or if you're a manager in a non-marketing role.

Marketing is a key driver of success in today’s dynamic organisations. Through studying this course, you'll gain an insight into essential marketing concepts and tools and learn how these can be applied to deliver results.

Good communication skills are essential for today’s marketers and this qualification will also provide you with the introductory communication skills you need to build sustainable relationships. 

This is a professional marketing qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the UK's leading marketing organisation. Their qualifications are highly respected, and in some cases required, by many employers.

Successful completion of the CIM Foundation Certificate in Marketing will give you the knowledge, skills and understanding you need to be able to excel in an entry-level or support marketing role. 

To achieve the CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Marketing, you'll complete the following two modules:

  1. Marketing Principles
  2. Customer Communications

Each of these modules has 9 credits, so the course is 18 credits in total. 

Marketing Principles

  1. This first module will give you an understanding of the key concepts and terminology of marketing and how it fits within an organisation. It'll introduce you to the principles of consumer behaviour and the marketing environment. You'll learn the elements of the marketing mix and how the mix is used to meet customer requirements.

Customer Communications

  1. This module will give you an understanding of the main elements of marketing communications and how they can be used in practice to engage with customers. Key marketing activities are considered in the context of developing a marketing communications campaign.

If you don’t attain the full qualification, you can achieve a distinct, self-contained Award for each module that you pass.

You don't need any prior qualifications or experience to enrol on this course. It's perfect if you're:

  1. Seeking an entry-level or marketing support role, such as marketing assistant
  2. A manager in a non-marketing function who needs a solid basis of marketing knowledge
  3. An entrepreneur who wants to learn to effectively market your business

If English isn't your first language, you'll need to have gained one of the following qualifications in the last two years:

  1. IELTS Academic Module with an overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above)
  2. Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above is required

We'll also consider equivalent alternatives.

This qualification will give you essential marketing knowledge that you can apply to a wide variety of roles that involve some element of marketing.

If you're just starting out in your marketing career, this qualification will give you the skills you need to work in an entry-level marketing position, such as a marketing assistant or in marketing support.

Once you've successfully completed the qualification, you could move on to our CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing (Digital Marketing) course. This will allow you to take your marketing career to the next level and gain a more central marketing role. 

You could also complete the CIM Level 4 Award in Digital Marketing, which is the Digital Marketing module from the full Certificate.

Unlimited Support

You’ll be assigned an expert academic tutor who'll be with you from enrolment to graduation. Their support is unlimited and you can contact them by phone or via the Student Community. They’ll answer any questions you have about coursework, study materials, and assessments, and help you work through any part of the course you’re stuck with.

They’ll also give you test papers and mock exams to ensure you’re ready to pass your exams. All your papers will be given constructive feedback so you know exactly what your strengths are and what you can improve.

Our dedicated student support team will be on hand to assist you with administrative tasks, using the Student Community, and any other non-academic queries you may have.

You'll also be supported by our CIM Support Team, who'll help you with queries specific to your CIM studies.

Practice Assessment

As part of your course, you'll complete 1 multiple choice test paper and 1 test paper that'll be marked by your tutor. This allows you to keep track of your progress and identify where you're doing well and where you could improve. They won't count towards your final award.
