The CIPD Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Learning & Development is the most comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of L&D. It's perfect if you're looking to move into L&D, or if you're currently in an L&D or training support role and want to formalise and build on your existing knowledge.

With a qualification in L&D from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the largest HR and Development professional body in Europe, you'll be developing your skills and career options while you learn to do the same for others.

The CIPD Diploma in L&D is highly practical and real-world focused, so you can put what you learn into practice from day one. It'll give you an in-depth and thorough grounding in the training cycle and the fundamentals of learning and development, including its impact on business sustainability. 

You'll learn how to identify training needs then plan, deliver and monitor L&D activities in response. You'll also be able to specialise in either providing group training, using technology to facilitate L&D, or enhancing learner engagement.

This course will give you the confidence to be more effective at work and excel in your HR or training role.

To achieve the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Learning & Development, you need a total of 38 credits.

You'll complete all seven core units, which will give you 32 credits.

You'll then take one out of three possible optional units, which will give you the final 6 credits.

You'll attend two workshops on our CIPD Level 3 Foundation Diploma course. This gives you the opportunity to:

  1. Network with like-minded professionals
  2. Build confidence in the new skills you've learned
  3. Meet your tutor face-to-face

You don't need any prior experience or qualifications to take this Foundation L&D level course. However, you must be proficient in English and have access to email and the internet.

Some knowledge of or experience in HR/L&D support or management would be beneficial, but it isn't essential. This Diploma will teach you everything you need to know to begin your L&D career.

This course is perfectly suited to you if you:

  1. Want to gain the essential knowledge and skills required to move into L&D
  2. Are working in an HR or L&D support role but don't hold a formal HR or L&D qualification
  3. Are a current line manager with responsibility for people management and development
  4. Are looking to become a professional member of the CIPD (Assoc CIPD)

With a Foundation Diploma in Learning & Development from the leading professional body in the field, you'll be ready to excel in an entry/support-level L&D or training role.

Any CIPD qualification is highly attractive to employers, as it demonstrates both your professional expertise and your commitment to furthering your career.

Plus, once you graduate, you'll automatically become an Associate Member of CIPD, showing that you hold yourself to the highest professional standards.

If you decide to continue your professional development with CIPD, your study and further experience could lead to Chartered status with the Institute, and the potential for lucrative and rewarding senior level roles.

You could continue your professional development with the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate or the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Diploma in L&D

The Certificate will give you key knowledge and skills at the Intermediate level; the Diploma covers more units and therefore gives you a more comprehensive knowledge of L&D.

You can either pay for your course in full or opt for an interest-free payment plan. You'll pay a small deposit and the rest by monthly direct debit. Our plans are flexible, so you can extend the terms or pay your balance off sooner if you choose.

Your course materials have been specially designed for online learning by experts in the field. You'll work through step-by-step modules so you can easily keep track of your progress.

You'll have the opportunity to join a live induction webinar when you start your course.
