This module is primarily concerned with the development of skills, and specifically seeks to develop and improve a range of definable skills that are pivotal to successful management practice and to effective leadership. These include thinking and decision-making skills, the management of financial information, managing budgets, a range of team working and interpersonal skills and others associated with developing personal effectiveness and credibility at work.

The module also seeks to develop further more-specialised skills that are of particular significance to effective higher-level people management and provides opportunities for applied learning and continuous professional development. 

The new Advanced Level Awards in Human Resources from CIPD enable you to broaden and deepen your knowledge and skills on a particular subject while providing an ideal opportunity for supporting continuing professional development (CPD). 


To achieve an Advanced Level Award in Human Resources, you need a total of 15 credits. This course is worth 15 credits.

The Learning Outcomes for this module are shown below. By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  5. Interpret financial information and manage financial resources
  6. Demonstrate enhanced IT proficiency
  7. Demonstrate an essential people management skill-set
  8. Demonstrate competence in postgraduate study skills. 

This is a Level 7 programme and requires a good level of HR experience. The Advanced Level Award in Human Resources are for those who:

  1. Have the responsibility for HR decision-making within an organisation at either operational, tactical or a more strategic level
  2. Are HR professionals in a team or HR functional management role, and are seeing to enhance and develop their career
  3. Have responsibilities for the HR function and activities within an organisation without a specialist function
  4. Are independent or employed consultants who support organisations in meeting their goals.

 

If English is not your first language, you will be required to have an IELTS score of 6 or above.

As all the CIPD Level 7 Awards are modules from the Level 7 Advanced diploma, you can also use your award to work towards meeting the knowledge requirements for CIPD professional membership (Associate, Chartered Member or Chartered Fellow) by taking additional modules to achieve a full Advanced level diploma. 

On completion, you'll receive a CIPD Advanced Award in Human Resources.

The assessment for this module is through a skills portfolio that you must put together.

This portfolio must contain evidence of the skills that you have acquired and the new skills that you have learnt.

You should gather the evidence as you work your way through the module and for each criteria you should write a short summary of the skills that you have, the skills that you have developed and your plan for future skill development.

  4. People Management Skills
  5. Interpreting Financial Information
  6. I.T. Proficiency
  7. Problem Solving
  8. Postgraduate Study Skills
