PRINCE2® Student Stories: Ruby | PRINCE2® Practitioner Review

Ruby Kiss-Ladjanszky

PRINCE2® Practitioner

Marketing Manager, Ruby, finished the PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification in record time shortly after completing the PRINCE2 Foundation course. Read more about her learning journey with us below.

After passing my PRINCE2 Foundation exam, it wasn’t a question of whether I want to take the Practitioner level course.

My intention was to get fully PRINCE2-qualified in project management, and what’s more, I really enjoyed the Foundation course, so I started studying the Practitioner level soon after finishing my Foundation course.

The PRINCE2 Practitioner course is definitely more demanding than the Foundation one because it goes into more detail on all the PRINCE2 principles, processes, and themes.

The course materials are recorded videos which usually last around 20 minutes and require your full attention, so you need to concentrate more to understand all the key points.

The video recordings feature Frank Turley as the main lecturer (who we know from the Foundation course videos pretty well), and his guest, Nader, who illustrates what project management procedures really look like in real-life examples.

The course material builds on previous knowledge of the Foundation course, so I believe the PRINCE2 Foundation course is a prerequisite to taking this one. Otherwise, many concepts or management products would not be as straight-forward and clear to understand.

The course is structured to resemble the set up of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam, so Frank and Nader go over project management scenarios and answer questions along the way.

What I really liked about taking the course is that it’s fully online and I could log in and study whenever I had some free time. The flexibility aspect of the course was essential to me because I usually have a very busy schedule.

The course can be studied intensively in a month’s time, but I paced it out to ensure I understood everything fully and that I became confident enough to take the exam.

My personal tutor was very helpful, I could always ask him for help if I got stuck or if I had any questions and he replied promptly in a short time.

The Practitioner exam can be taken as an online proctored exam, so when I felt ready, I went ahead and booked it with the exam code I received from ICS Learn.

In addition, you get to know your exam result right after submitting your answers at the end, so no need to wait for weeks to receive an official letter through the post.

The exam is open book, but don’t be deceived, it’s for a reason as the questions go into such details that you need the book sometimes to check some information. So, it is essential you familiarise yourself with the official PRINCE2 manual (that’s the only book you can take in for the exam), and you should know where to find the information you are looking for to answer the questions correctly and quickly.

In my opinion, the PRINCE2 Practitioner course is very handy for those who would like to get started in the field of project management or for those who are looking for ways to enhance their career.

The PRINCE2 methodology is used both in the public and private sector worldwide so I’m sure it provides you with many opportunities and it’s a great qualification to list on your professional CV.

My plan is to use this project management methodology at work and manage marketing campaigns more efficiently on a daily basis.

Thank you ICS Learn for the support!
