ICS Learn Case Study: Maldon’s Community Academy | CIPD Courses

Our online CIPD HR courses helped Paula Gibson, Director of HR at Maldon’s Community Academy, to achieve her performance targets for the year.

I didn’t go to university, preferring instead to leave education and get a job – which for me was the right thing to do at the time.

I spent a number of years working in London before taking some time out to be a full-time mum and concentrate my time on my children.

Once they were settled at secondary school I decided it was time to get back to work, which is when I started in what was then called ‘Personnel.’

After 6 or 7 years of experience - during which time there were huge changes with the world of Human Resources - I felt the time was right to gain a formal qualification to back up the experience and knowledge I had gained.

Working full-time meant that studying full-time was not an option and after lots of research I found that the CIPD Level 5 course offered by ICS Learn was perfect.

It allowed the flexibility I needed whilst being supported by professional tutors at the same time.

It was important that this qualification is fully accredited by CIPD too giving it the credibility I was looking for.

The 2 weekend workshops were invaluable as they gave face-to-face learning with high quality tutors – and of course an opportunity to discuss assessments with other students.

I successfully passed Level 5 which enabled me to secure a new job – a leadership post in a large secondary academy – and without the qualification I would not even have been able to apply for it.

It has also meant I can use the designatory letters Assoc. CIPD on my signature (and of course on my application and CV when looking to further my career!)

A year or so down the line I started looking into CIPD Level 7 qualifications and once again ICS Learn offered the best way of completing this study – and at extremely competitive prices too.

My employers are so pleased and impressed that I continue to expand my knowledge and understanding and that, even more so, I am able to demonstrate this with a professional qualification.

This has gone a long way in me surpassing my Performance Management targets for the year and securing pay increases too.
