CIPD Student Stories: Shareen Moore | CIPD Level 5 Diploma Review

As a busy parent with a young family, Shareen needed flexibility. That's why she decided to study an online CIPD Level 5 Diploma in HR.

I’m a single parent working full time in HR for the last four years and over the last three years my main focus has been in rewards, as a coordinator at Housing 21 where I have found a real appetite for the department during this time.

I had been thinking for while that I would like to have the opportunity to increase my professional development in this area however being a single parent it benefits me to study from home.

After speaking with my manager I discovered that my company would be happy to fund this course so I started to do some research to see what courses were available and after weighing up pros and cons for each advertisement I decided to contact ICS Learn for more information.

The ICS Learn team are very friendly and patient with potential new course students giving you all the information you require and there was even an opportunity to have a test login access to the course portal so you can feel your way around what it would look like working from home.

ICS Learn were happy to go through the available course with my subject of interest and I found the course which was right for me which was - CIPD L5 Human Resources in Reward Management.

I began my journey of study tooled with all the information I needed to get started and set myself a personal schedule to fit in my study time at home around family.

There was a nice starting assignment to write up which wasn’t counted towards your final grade but supports you in practicing your research and guides you to write in a more academic style alongside lots of sections providing tips for research and a whole section on guidance for referencing which I found really helpful considering I hadn’t studied for some years.

There are scheduled online meetings with your tutor where you live with other students doing the same course and it’s a great chance to ask questions and get answers to support understanding that you are on the right track.

The tutor support was also always on hand to help and would go into great depth with assisting your query and if you find yourself stretched for time there are more than happy to support and extensions can be arranged as I discovered around the Christmas period.

Overall all the ICS Learn team have been very supportive and have helped me to gain my qualification in the time which was right for me to move forward in my development and I would absolutely recommend studying with ICS Learn.
