CIPD Student Stories: Abbie Hawthorn | CIPD Level 5 L&D Review

Abbie wanted to enhance her L&D skills and experience, so she decided to take on an online CIPD Level 5 Diploma L&D with us. Find out more below about her learning journey.

I currently work as a Learning and Development Co-ordinator at an FE college. Alongside my full-time role, I'm studying the Level 5 Diploma with ICS Learn.

I chose to study this course because I am fairly new to my role and I wanted to develop my knowledge in Learning and Development.  

I had never studied online before but thought it was the perfect option for me due to working full time. I came across the ICS Learn website when I was researching my options and I was instantly drawn in by how informative the website was. I requested a brochure, contacted one of the advisers via email, and made my decision to enrol.  

So far my experience with studying online has been great. I can study around my work and personal life and I still have a tutor there for support.

The assignment deadlines have been made clear to me and it’s nice to be able to chat with other students in the forum feature of the website. Another advantage is having 24/7 access to a bank of resources to help you with your studies.  

I am nearing the end of my first module and I have already learnt so much about the world of Learning and Development which I am able to use in the workplace. I am excited to continue my studies with ICS Learn and see where it takes me.  

My plans for the future are to progress my studies with ICS Learn by hopefully moving onto Level 7 qualification and continuing to develop in my current role.  

For anyone who is currently in my position and thinking of studying the Level 5 Diploma, I would definitely recommend ICS Learn as they have been so supportive and provided me with everything I need to successfully pass my course.
