CIPD Student Stories: Rebecca | CIPD Level 3 Certificate Review

Rebecca studied a CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Learning and Development to help develop her management skills, whilst fitting study around her work commitments. 

I currently work within the utilities sector as an Operational Manager, I was promoted into my role eighteen months ago. It was suggested that I investigate courses to aid me in gaining knowledge and confidence within my new role.

I am currently studying Level 3 Certificate and Leadership Management course. Through completing this course, I want to be able to grow and develop in my role to become the best manager I can be.

ICS was the one organisation overall that fit my needs when searching for the best course.

The costing had various options which made payments easier and the courses are online I was able to fit this around a full-time job.

Both myself and members of our HR department looked at many different courses for night study to college one day a week.

Within my role I was still new and didn’t want to take large chucks of my working day away. The best solution was online study that I could fit in and around my working days. ICS ticked all my needs.

I was initially apprehensive about an online course as I wasn’t sure how long it would take for queries to be respond to. As the course was online and I enjoy working on my own I wasn’t worried that I wouldn’t understand, and the introductions and instructions are always informative.

I have never done a course before where you are told if tutors will be on annual leave. This is so helpful as it enabled me to plan my learning around this.

The advisors and tutors are always available to help and will go out of their way to assist you. They are friendly and will always try to resolve any issues or questions you have.

I have found ICS very informative and am already using some of the tools I have learnt in my day to day role. I am over halfway through my course and have loved the different types of learning, the modules are interactive which provides the opportunity to apply my own examples to tasks.

My tutor is very friendly and will offer feedback on everything I do. If I have questions about topics, he will support me to ensure that my work is done efficiently as required.

I would recommend ICS to anyone looking to develop their skills or learn something new. The course that I am completing has taught me things that I didn’t know, it has also covered areas that I did know and has refreshed my knowledge. The course has shown me different ways of working which has helped to develop both my team and myself.

I am hoping to study more with ICS in the future to develop my managing role further.
