AAT Student Stories: Lee Matthews | AAT Level 2 & 3 Review

Lee decided it was time to make a career switch from his job in real estate, so he decided to enrol on an AAT Level 2 followed by an AAT Level 3 qualification with us to kickstart his new dream. 

When I was younger, I almost took up accountancy but at the time decided to become an estate agent instead. Now halfway through my career life, I have decided to make the change to accountancy. I have always enjoyed numbers and problem-solving so knew that this was the right change to make at this time.

With a family to support and a mortgage to pay it was not an option to go back to school and study full time or even part-time.

I explored the different options and found that I could study online in my own time and at my own pace. I spent a lot of time looking at different companies online, talking with friends who are in the business to ascertain the best path for me.

I have completed the Level 2 Foundation in Accountancy with ICS Learn and am currently studying Level 3 with ICS Learn as well.

It suits my lifestyle and enables me to have a good work, life, and study balance. I have found the studying difficult at times due to trying to get my head around and understanding what it is that I am trying to learn, however, my tutor has always been on hand to help answer any questions and to explain in detail to help me understand.

Once I have started working in accountancy and completed my Level 3, I will be looking to study the AAT Level 4 in accountancy to further my progression in the future.
