AAT Student Stories: Ashleigh McKenna | AAT Level 2 Certificate

Ashleigh took the plunge and started a brand new career in Accounting by studying an online AAT Level 2 Certificate.

Accounting was always something I had wanted to do, so when I had been taken on as an entry level Accounts Administrator at a local food manufacturer, I was overjoyed.

I quickly realised that I wanted to move further up the ladder at my company, but with no previous accounts experience or qualifications I knew this may be difficult.

I researched online and found that the AAT Level 2 Course was exactly what I was looking for to get me started on my journey.

I initially had reservations with online learning as I had never experienced this before, I was working full time and needed my studies to fit around this, whilst still being affordable. I signed up to the dual foundation and advanced course (something I could not see offered through other learning providers) saving me time and money moving from one to the next.

They also included my first year's AAT Membership fee and my Kaplan books in the price, meaning everything was combined into one monthly affordable payment.

When I came across ICS Learn and was impressed with how many years of experience they had and how flexible the learning could be. The sign-up process was hassle free and professional, within a week my books had arrived and I was ready to get started. I couldn’t believe how quick and easy the process was.

ICS allocated me a tutor who was always on hand to answer any questions I had, they also had live lessons I could tune into for every part of the course.

Every time I had worked through a unit there were online tests as well as a whole range of resources at my disposal. There is a connect and communicate page where you can interact with other students and ask their advice, as well as a dedicated student support team.

Working through my qualification, management at my company often told me how it was improving my everyday work and I was given more challenging tasks and responsibilities.

I am now head of Credit Control and Sales Ledger, having moved up the ladder within the company.

Not only have I reaped the benefits of this course but so has my employer, I plan to continue working towards promotions and with ICS Learn I feel this is now within my reach.

I would recommend ICS Learn as I found the whole process improved my career, my day to day work and my confidence. There were no hidden fees or time frames, and I really could study on my own terms.
