A Level Student Stories: Sam | A Level History Review

Sam chose to study his A Level History qualification with us to expand his knowledge and kickstart his career journey to becoming a History Teacher. 

I currently work for Sainsburys as a Customer & Trading Manager, I have worked for Sainsbury's for a total of twelve years including four years as a Store Manager.

I decided last year that I wanted to pursue a career as a History Teacher and upon starting this journey it became apparent that I needed to complete an A level in History to further support my application as my degree was not directly linked to History. 

Having researched different online providers, I was drawn straight away to ICS Learn specifically due to their score and numerous reviews on Trustpilot. 

In fact, the score and reviews were that good, I went on the hunt for a poor review, and these were few and far between.

Having been with ICS Learn for a year now, I can see why so many people were giving such great reviews. I can’t recommend the learning platform enough!

As I'm classed as a key worker, it was pretty much full-on through lockdown and I was working 12-14 hours days. Between having a busy full-time job with a young family, ICS Learn's online platform and support network provided me the flexibility that I desperately needed to succeed in the course.

Working at my own pace, I soon found a rhythm and work pattern that enabled me to complete the materials and submit test papers, mock exams, and complete the NEA.

During this unprecedented and unpredictable year, I can't speak highly enough of the support I received.

I'd like to give a special mention to my tutor Gordon, curriculum leader Melanie, and the exam support team. These support networks are world-class, and I have no doubt that they played a role in enabling my success.

With the completion of my A level, I am now able to celebrate achieving a grade B, and moving onto my History PGCE in September while working towards my aspirations of becoming a secondary school history teacher.
