Amy got an AB in her exam after studying our online IGCSE Science course, which means she's now one step closer to her dream of becoming a Midwife.
Since having children, I had always toyed with the idea of becoming a midwife.
I looked into the necessary requirements and was put off by the fact I had to re-sit GCSE Science as I had only managed to get DD in school.
I needed a CC or 4-4 or above to be eligible for applying for a midwifery degree.
In early 2018, I finally bit the bullet and signed up to IGCSE Science with the intention of sitting the exams only ten months later!
Having an 8-year-old & 6-year-old to look after (as a single parent) and a part-time job as a charity fundraiser, I had my work cut out!
Having been out of education for nearly 16 years, it took a while to figure out the best way to study so that the information sunk in – the turning point for me was when I had booked the exam and knew I only had a limited time to revise thoroughly. Failure was not an option!
After a very boring Christmas of revising and very little festivities, I sat three exams in early January. I found them challenging and really wasn’t sure how well I’d done but decided that there was nothing I could do about it now and started to enjoy my new-found freedom without revision. All I wanted was a pass!
In early March, I was completely shocked when the results were delivered into my inbox. I’d got an A&B!
It now means that I can move onto an access to nursing course later this year without worrying about having to re-sit Science exams for a third time.
I would definitely recommend ICS Learn for online learning. All the information you need is available straight away and the tutors are there to help if you need them, plus you can pay monthly, so the fees aren’t a huge burden.
If you have a dream of a new career, do it! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
