Our student Naila Dracup always struggled with Maths at school and in her day to day life. She reviews her journey of studying online and passing her GCSE Maths.
I did quite well in many of my GCSEs at school, but I have always avoided Maths. I've always felt as though I have really struggled with that subject and I’ve actively avoided it in my everyday life.
I hadn't realised at the time just how often a Grade C in maths is a standard requirement for many jobs and courses. I’ve subsequently regretted writing it off and having a defeatist attitude towards it.
I plucked up the courage to give it another shot as I consider Maths to be a life skill that has many transferable attributes to other areas and to increase my future prospects.
The course appealed to me as it is very reasonable, and the flexibility meant that I could fit it around full time work.
I was initially apprehensive about the course being delivered online in case I couldn’t engage with the teacher. I also worried I would let myself fall behind. However, I found that the style of the course wasn’t an issue at all.
Melissa is a fantastic teacher who made each lesson fun and interactive and really took the fear out of Maths for many people.
There was also immediate and practical support and engagement from Melissa, the other staff and the students throughout the course and we were encouraged to interact and share with our fellow students as much as possible which was a massive help.
I passed! I can't believe it. I never thought I would pass my Maths GCSE and now I have, thanks to Melissa Lieberman and the ICS Learn team.
I would definitely recommend ICS Learn online courses to anyone. I preferred it to my original experience of sitting my GCSEs, that's for sure!
