CIPD Student Stories: Kirsty | CIPD Level 3 Review

Office manager Kirsty Lloyd chose to study our CIPD Level 3 Diploma to bring a deeper understanding of HR into her workplace.

My name is Kirsty Lloyd and I’m currently studying CIPD Human Resources Practice Level 3.

I work as an Office Manager for a craft distributor Creative World of Crafts, and we distribute items such as Knitting Yarns, Papercraft Items and Cross Stitch. I’ve been working here 6 years this summer and I love working here.

I chose to do the HR course because the HR function of the company was quite small, and we relied on an external company for our HR needs and I thought it was important to have someone in house. 

I’ve always enjoyed being involved with recruitment and HR processes, and I wanted to develop my knowledge and expertise.

I chose ICS Learn as I liked the fact you could learn at your own pace, wherever and whenever you like.

With working full time, it was important that I could fit the course around my life. I have done other courses with the local college and found the support with ICS Learn a lot better,

the fact that you can contact on evenings and weekends is great as this is when I’m doing my studying.

The tutors are contactable by phone or email which is great as you can choose and fit it around a busy lifestyle – they have even answered my queries on bank holidays!

It’s great knowing that if you’re stuck that there’s someone you can contact.

I really enjoy the webinars as well and like the fact you can discuss with other students on the forums.

My plans for the future are to hopefully develop the HR function of Creative World of Crafts alongside my other roles and I may progress onto Level 5 of the course.

You can study at your own pace. The tutors are very friendly and knowledgeable and happy to help you if you’re stuck and they’re great to bounce ideas off.

I would definitely recommend ICS Learn because of the flexibility with the learning.
