You’ll learn how to plan more complex client itineraries and ticketing procedures.  It fully prepares for the Level II exam which travel agents require you to pass for IATA membership and gain a certificate that is endorsed by British Airways.

• World Geography and the Mileage System

Explore each IATA geographical area and the main sub-areas. Learn how to use Neutral Units of Constructions (NUCs) to construct normal fares for multi-sector routings using the mileage system. Discover how to apply the IATA rates of exchange and how to round off local currency fares. Examine the calculation of appropriate fare levels for both children and infants.

• Add-ons, HIPs and Minimum Fare Checks

Learn how to calculate fares, both published and unpublished, taking into account all the main steps of fare construction. Discover how to calculate Higher Intermediate Point Checks. Examine the main minimum fare checks.

• Combinations, Limitations and Surface Sectors

Learn further fare construction rules and discover how to calculate fares for more complex itineraries. Examine the best fare breakpoints.

• Mixed Class, Special and Rebated Fares

Learn how to calculate mixed class fares. Discover how to offer the lowest special fare for longer, more complex itineraries. Examine the various rebated fare categories, their fare notes and applicable discounts.

Assessment Breakdown

Final Exam: the exam is open-book and must be completed within 3 hours. The pass mark is 85%.

Notes

Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to complete a range of exercises which test your learning. The answers to these exercises are included at the end of your study materials. As such, you’ll be able to learn from any mistakes – meaning you won’t make the same errors in the exam!

The exam is held in March, July and November of each year.
