Course Overview

Explore health and safety considerations.  Understand the operation of both cold and hot water systems, as well as central heating systems.  Discover the different types of fittings and valves, as well as the tools used by plumbers.

Pre-requisites

You don’t need any previous qualifications for this course, although industry guidelines recommend that you have at least 4 GCSEs of D or above.

Examine the principles of electricity and explore electricity supply. Learn the installation requirements for electrical systems and explore their testing and decommissioning.

Explore sheet lead design considerations and learn how to work with sheet lead. Examine the domestic applications of sheet lead work.

Examine ways in which plumbers can help the environment, for example, by improving energy efficiency and safely disposing of waste materials.

Examine the construction industry and learn how to build effective working relationships with the various members of the construction team.

You’ll complete thirteen assessments during your course. It is simple and easy to complete these assessments online via the ICS Student Community. When you complete an assessment online, it is marked instantly, meaning that you receive your result straightaway. This allows you to progress through your course without delay. It is, however, also possible to handwrite your answers and post these to ICS.

Each multiple choice question comes with four potential answers. Only one of these answers is correct; the other three are wrong. You must identify the correct answer.

If on completion of the course you want to go on to acquire the City and Guilds 6129 Level 2 Technical Certificate, you only need to sit the practical training and assessment at a centre recommended by ICS. Please note that this incurs additional costs.
