We are always interested to hear about your study experience
with ICS. Sharing your experience can be inspiring to others and we
enjoy learning more about you too. Everyone has different reasons
for studying and what you hope to be able to achieve with your new
qualifications is probably different from everyone else.
We have compiled a sample of feedback from some of our
students so you can read about their experience of
studying with us.
What our students say...
...about our Care orientated courses
"ICS was recommended to me by a friend
and a career in childcare seemed a natural progression for me,
especially as I have two young children of my own. I started to
look at the qualifications required to work in childcare and
noticed that ICS could open doors for me and offer me a route into
the industry."
Danielle Stephens, Cardiff - Studied
our CACHE Level Two Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and
Development.
"The courses are fantastic and are laid out in a way
that is easy to follow. When I was confused or I didn't quite
understand something the tutors and student support teams were
always helpful and didn't mind answering any of my queries, no
matter how small. By learning from home I've also saved money on
the inconvenient costs of going to college, such as travel or child
care, and I can spend even more quality time with my
child."
Hannah Burt - Studied our BTEC in
Health and Social Care.
"I completed my nursing diploma in Zambia but it has
always been my ambition to upgrade to a degree. Upon moving to
Sheffield eight years ago I began working in a nursing home and
have built up plenty of experience in the care home industry.
Studying with ICS has allowed me to expand my knowledge and boost
my career prospects."
Paxina Mwikisa, Sheffield - Studied our BSc Nursing
(top-up) degree.
...about our Business orientated courses
"I found ICS to be very organised and helpful and the
course material provided was useful and easy to follow.
I also enjoyed meeting new people and making friends
through the online community and at the course workshops. Studying
with ICS has increased my professional network, but most
importantly, it has helped me on the path to a new and rewarding
career."
Syed Danish Athar Jafri, Slough - Studied our CIPD
Level 3 Human Resource Management.
"My university degree was very
technical while this is more vocational, so they complement each
other. I couldn't have done the jobs I have without my degree, but
the ICS course will give my CV a new
edge."
Chris Hogg, London - completed our PRINCE2®
course
"ICS gave me the opportunity to study from home in my
own time, which was ideal as I could carry on working. The
coursework was thorough and easy to work through and, as I work in
the hospitality industry at the moment, it's really helped me in my
job."
Emma Woods - studied our BA(Hons) Business
Management
...about our High School qualifications
"When you study French at school, there's a lot of set
work. This course is more related to real life - and a lot more
fun! Now I'm thinking about doing an A-level in the
future."
Tracy Kay Broad - studied our IGCSE French.
...about our IT courses
"After completing the first module on the MCSE track I
moved from the company's Accounts department into IT to work as a
support technician. Hopefully, I'll get a promotion when I qualify.
Being able to study in my spare time has made all the difference.
I'd happily recommend ICS to friends - in fact I already
have."
Philip Midgley - studied our Microsoft Certified IT
Professional.
"I knew ICS was right for me as soon as I looked at the
vast range of courses on offer and also the flexibility offered to
students. I also thought IT skills would be a good starting point
for me and useful for any future career. Another positive for me
was that it wasn't a complex procedure to sign up and they didn't
require previous experience - you could learn exactly what you
want, when you want."
Hannah Burt - Studied our Web Design course.
"In preparation for getting back into work after home
teaching my son, I have studied two courses through ICS, the
Teaching Assistant and Autocad courses. In both cases I was happy
with the clarity and standard of the coursework, and the efficiency
of tutors in marking and answering queries. I also used ICS as a
source for home teaching, which allowed my son to gain some
qualifications. I would recommend ICS to anyone who wants to study
at home to gain a qualification."
Pamela Bell Evans - studied both our AutoCAD and Teaching
Assistant qualifications.
...about our Vocational and Interest
courses
"After I was made redundant I did think to myself, what
am I going to do now? I've always had a strong interest in
photography so spent time studying it. However I also love
organising and planning events so I thought I'd combine both
photography and wedding planning. I wanted to learn what goes on
behind the scenes to bring a wedding day to life. I didn't have
anything to lose and if it worked out I'd be fulfilling a
dream."
Chantal Lachance-Gibson, Glasgow - Studied our Wedding
Planning course,
"I know tutors are supposed to be helpful but my ICS
tutor was absolutely fantastic - I never felt that she was ever
that far away. It was a great source of comfort, especially as I'd
been out of education for such a long time. I really appreciated
all of her help - she really went above and beyond the call of
duty."
Tasmia Kamal, Edinburgh - Studied our BTEC
Teaching Assistant course.
"I chose to do distant learning as
I work full time and it fitted in well around the hours I work.
I chose ICS as there were no deadlines (like with other open
universities) so if I wanted to put the books down for a
little while and pick them up again later, then I
could."
Andrea Lee - Studying our Make-up Skills course after
achieving a Diploma in Psychology and Child Psychology.
Natalie Michel kindly created this video while styding with
us to help other students who are interested in the BTEC Make up
Artist Course.
