Public Sector

At a time when the public sector is undergoing and facing massive change, we can work in partnership with sector organisations on training solutions and skills development to ensure a better service can be delivered to all.

The level of change already imposed and proposed for the long term in the Open Public Services White Paper from the Coalition Government, has lead to vast reform within the public sector, the likes of which has not been experienced in post-war history. With a cuts target of 25% over four years from the 2010/11 fiscal year, the focus within the public sector must be on engaging workers to deliver high value public services with less money, in order to help those most in need.

The challenge across all departments is firstly to ensure that all staff have the relevant base-level skills for work to deliver their main duties. Then the focus must shift to employee retention and personal development of the workforce, increasing the levels of engagement and professionalism to raise each individual's capacity and capabilities and, in turn, reduce both employee turnover and absence rates.

ICS make skills development and learning accessible by allowing students to fit their studies around their life, and we can work in partnership with public sector organisations to ensure that a better service can be delivered to all, both internally and to the public through framework agreements. In support of our consumer-orientated distance learning courses, we can utilise this content and deliver a blended learning solution for skills development within a public sector department, local authority or even a care home. We can also develop and deliver bespoke distance learning courses designed to achieve specific learning objectives, or act in an advisory position to ensure that the correct learning solution is selected and implemented.
