Key topics
The Applied Personnel and Development Standards are made up of two parts:
- A management report of 7,000 to 10,000 words
The management report must describe a substantial piece of research on any aspect of personnel development which you choose to investigate. The report will be assessed at postgraduate level, and it should be worthy of being considered for possible implementation within your organisation (if you are currently working). As such, it should be based on real as opposed to theoretical situations, and should produce practical recommendations.
- A Continuing Professional Development log of at least 35 hours’ activity
If people do not continually develop, their usefulness to their organisation will decrease. As such, completing a Continuing Professional Development log will help you to identify ways in which you can develop professionally, and it will also enable you to track your progress in meeting these aims. You will discover the range of learning opportunities that are available to you – both formal and informal, work-related and personal. You will also learn how to effectively reflect on these opportunities, and how to honestly identify your own strengths and weaknesses.
