Recession ushers in ''new era for businesses''

24 Nov 2009

The UK business landscape has been transformed by the recession.

People taking business and management courses through distance learning can look forward to a better work environment when they are ready to enter the jobs market thanks to the recession.

A new report from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) entitled The Shape of Businesses: The Next 10 Years has suggested that the economic upheavals may have been the force for change in the sector.

One of the areas that have been changed within the UK business industry is the adoption of different working practices, according to CBI director-general Richard Lambert.

He said: "We may be at the start of a new era for businesses, in which attitudes to finance and to corporate leadership are changed for a generation by the shock of the past two years.

"What we now need is a more balanced, less risky pathway to growth – one in which the short-term returns may be lower, but the long-term rewards for management success will be a lot more sustainable and secure."

Earlier this month, a survey commissioned by Citrix Online revealed that flexible and remote working capability is viewed as the best solution to commuting.
