Ecommerce sector could create jobs for those on IT courses
03 Feb 2010
Growth of the ecommerce sector in the UK could create more opportunities for IT professionals.
People taking IT courses through distance learning may want to target getting employment in the UK ecommerce sector, which is forecasted to grow significantly over the next few years.
A new study from the Centre for Retail Research conducted on behalf of Kelkoo has revealed that the UK accounted for one third of all European online sales in 2009, making it comfortably the largest market in Europe.
Nearly ten per cent of overall UK retail sales originate from online transactions and the growth could encourage more businesses to embrace ecommerce, creating employment for IT professionals.
Commenting on the findings, David Smith, director of operations at the Interactive Media in Retail Group, explained that the growth is down to increasing broadband access.
He added: "By 2020 we are going to have a situation where 90 per cent of retailing is going to be influenced by what at the moment you would call ''online''."
IT courses can be undertaken through distance learning from ICSlearn, which has a wide range of programmes to choose from.
