Business and management course-takers to benefit from new scheme
06 Nov 2009
The government has announced a new initiative to encourage female entrepreneurs.
A new government initiative announced by business secretary Lord Mandelson could be beneficial to women taking business and management courses through distance learning
In a bid to help women and ethnic minority workers maximise their business potential, the Depart for Business, Innovation and Skills has introduced a new scheme to harness their potential.
Based on recommendations by the Ethnic Minority Business Task Force and the Women''s Enterprise Taskforce, the scheme will provide support as well as access to finance and procurement opportunities.
A Women''s Enterprise Champion will also be appointed in each of the regions across the country in a bid to spur more women to start their own businesses and also offer advice to the government.
Lord Mandelson said: "Broadening participation in enterprise is vital to tackling the economic and social challenges the UK faces today.
"For Britain to emerge from the downturn in the strongest position, we need all of our talented people to maximise their business potential."
Distance learning courses are ideal for those who can not take a study break because of their flexibility.
