Purchasing offers a range of rewarding careers – and the CIPS Level 3 Certificate in Purchasing and Supply will introduce you to many of the key skills needed. These qualifications are ideal starting points in the purchasing and supply profession.
Aims of the Institute
CIPS goal remains to promote and develop high standards of professional skill, ability and integrity among all those engaged in purchasing and supply chain management. The Institute works with individuals, organisations and the profession as a whole and focuses upon developing the ‘art and science’ of purchasing and supply. CIPS continues to strive to improve the professional standards of practitioners and promotes excellence in organisations. CIPS also has a function for representing the interests and views of individuals within the profession.
Membership
There are various levels of membership available to candidates tailored to your educational and professional needs.
There are seven kinds of membership and they each provide a clear structure that allows for entry at an appropriate level, accurately reflecting your academic standards, vocational skill, experience and contribution to the profession.
- Fellow (FCIPS) – Awarded to existing Members (MCIPS) with a record of outstanding achievement and competence in purchasing and supply chain management.
- Full Member (MCIPS) – Full Members are recognised internationally for their professional accomplishment. Most members achieve MCIPS by completing the CIPS Graduate Diploma.
- Associate Member – Associate Member is the grade for people who are developing their careers, those who achieved the Level 5 Advanced Diploma or a CIPS Corporate Award Stage 1, or working towards MCIPS through the Personal Development Plan (PDP).
- Diploma Members - Diploma Members have successfully completed the Level 4 Foundation Diploma.
- Certificate Member - Certificate Members have achieved the Level 3 Certificate.
- Student – Student membership is the entry level for new practitioners at the earliest stage of their professional development and are undertaking CIPS qualifications or their equivalent. Students have full access to CIPS benefits at a reduced subscription rate during their course of study.
- Affiliates – this grade is designed for individuals who do not wish to become professionally qualified but have a strong interest in purchasing and supply. There are no entry qualifications for affiliate membership.
