Course Overview
Learn the basics of anatomy and physiology and discover the workings of the body’s cardiovascular and energy systems. Understand the importance of health and safety issues in the studio and learn to safely administer CPR first aid. Develop customer care skills and strategies to help clients overcome potential barriers to physical activity. Learn to plan, teach and evaluate an exercise to music session in a variety of styles.
Pre-requisites
No previous experience required to access this course. However, you must be aged over 18 to attend the YMCAfit workshop, and to qualify for the YMCAfit Certificate award.

- Access to a DVD and CD player is required
- The YMCA Fitness Industry Training assessment fee of £250 to gain the YMCA qualification is additional to the course fees
You’ll need to complete a test paper at the end of each unit as part of your coursework which you can submit to your tutor online or by post. To become a fully qualified instructor of Exercise to Music, you’ll need to attend the 3-day YMCA Fitness Industry Training workshop, and assessment day.
