Develop a sound understanding of the classification system of psychological disorders.  Gain comprehensive knowledge of key theoretical perspectives which inform psychologists’ understanding of psychological disorders.  Learn to critically examine the main approaches to the treatment of psychological disorders and to describe the key types of psychological disorder.  Realise the need for ethical awareness and a code of conduct in clinical practice.

Assessment

There are two assessments to this module.  Firstly, you’ll need to successfully complete one 90 minute exam, which will count towards 50% of your grade. The exam will have two sections.  The first section will concentrate on essay type questions, aimed to assess your application of material you’ll have studied in the module. The second section will be short answer questions aimed to assess your understanding of the material.

The second assessment is a coursework essay (2000 words) that you’ll need to complete.  This will count towards the other 50% of your grade
