Success Stories from our Law Students

Debbie Clayton from Northamptonshire

When Debbie missed the closing date for University she thought she’d have to wait another year before enrolling on a Law Degree course.  However a quick search of the internet suggested otherwise.

“I was delighted when I clicked on the ICS website and discovered that I could register at any time and phoned up straight away.  The advisors were so helpful and help me to make the first few steps to studying for the career I’d always wanted.”

Debbie knew that she would require a distance learning course that would offer flexibility and fit round her other work commitments and family life.  With the ability to develop self-discipline and study at a pace which suits her, Debbie feels confident that she will succeed.

“I have always wanted to be a high court judge and think I would make a great Barrister.  Even if I don’t end up on that career path, it will be invaluable learning in my current position.”

Equally impressed by the support network available, Debbie feels that she has benefited greatly from Student Community aspect of ICS and is relieved not to feel alone in her studies.

“Response from the mentors, lecturers and HQ staff is always quick, helpful and positive.  Everything is set up to that you feel part of a crowd and not alone.  By studying with ICS, this particular course has helped me not to jump to conclusions before establishing the facts and doing my research first in other situations out with my studies.”

Debbie would have no hesitation in recommending others to study with ICS particularly due to its flexibility and support network.  She has found the learning experience fun and has made a number of friends and broadened her overall outlook on life.

Buffy-Jane Treadaway from Colchester

With a long-term ambition to become a Crown Prosecution Service solicitor, Buffy-Jane enrolled on the LLB (Hons) Law course with ICS and is now on the first steps of the ladder to her dream career.

“I didn’t think it was possible to study such a demanding subject whilst having other commitments in my life. However ICS has enabled me to balance my studies with a part-time job and family life.”

With encouragement from her mentors, combined with her enthusiasm and sense of achievement, Buffy-Jane was inspired to enroll on a second degree with ICS – the BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Criminology.

“I decided to enrol on the second degree because I also wanted to learn the other side of the legal system and behavioural aspects of criminals. This is going to be very valuable throughout my career.”

Upon completion of her Law Degree with ICS, Buffy-Jane hopes to study at post-graduate level prior to commencing her legal practice training, which will enable her to become a solicitor. Buffy-Jane advises other students that with time, commitment and preparation you can achieve success with a course from ICS.

“As long as you are interested in your chosen subject then go for it! You will be studying for a degree with a recognised home learning course provider as well as a top ranking university. I feel very privileged to be able to do this.”
