Course Overview

This course provides a sought after, Masters Degree and is ideal for legal professionals, would-be lawyers or barristers, or those with a strong legal element to their business or profession.

You will develop an excellent, in-depth understanding of different elements of international law, balancing theory with practice across topics ranging from European Union Law and Regulation to Corporate Crime.

Entry Requirements

You should usually have a first degree to undertake Masters level study. However, if you don’t have the traditional entry requirements you may still be able to study with us. Contact us to discuss your qualifications and experience.

You must have a good standard of English (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent) to take this course.

Career Opportunities

This qualification provides a firm foundation for several careers. If you are already a lawyer or barrister it will enhance your professional reputation and career development. Alternatively if you aspire to a legal career and wish to train, or are training, to become a legal professional, this will increase your employability.

Law also develops transferable skills that provide an excellent basis for careers not directly law-related, but which may have an international law element, such as business and management in the public, private or voluntary sectors. Another option could be to continue your academic study of law through further postgraduate study.

Module Structure

As the LLM in International Business Law is a Master's Degree, the modules are all set at Level 4. Please see below for more information on the degree modules that form the LLM programme.

• International Employment Law
• International Governance
• International Law Research
• Major Research Project

Award Structure

To obtain the Masters degree you must successfully complete 180 credits (these are shown below in brackets). You must study the following core modules:

• EU Law in a Global Context (15 credits)
• International Law Research (15 credits)
• Comparative Company Law (30 credits)
• Major Research Project in International Business Law (60 credits)

You must also select two of the following three modules:

• Corporate and Financial Regulation (30 credits)
• International Governance (30 credits)
• International Employment Law (30 credits)

Please note that you should have a good standard of English (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent) to take this course.

At ICS we are keen to ensure that you make the best possible start to your studies and thereafter have flexibility to study what you want, at the pace you choose.

Payment Plan

We recognise that study is a major financial commitment, so to make the costs more manageable you are able to split the cost of your degree over several instalments. All the resources you need to complete the relevant modules will be provided.

Support Periods

Once you enrol you will be provided you with full support for up to 18 months.

The support package includes the Programme Manager, personal academic tutor, academic mentors and access to ICS resources, including eCampus. With appropriate commitment you should successfully complete the relevant modules within these periods. However, students who are unable to complete within the given time may be eligible to apply for extended support, but this incurs additional costs.
