Home Study Bachelor of Law Course: Law and Society

The home study Bachelor of Law course is made up of eighteen modules, including the Law and Society module.

The distance learning law degree course allows you to study for a Bachelor of Law degree through convenient and cost-effective home study. The law course is structured in small, manageable modules, and to gain a Bachelor of Law degree you will need to complete the necessary modules to gain 360 credits.

The Law and Society module of the distance learning law degree course examines the relationship between the legal system and the society that shapes it and lives under it. Looking at contemporary issues in legal theory and the general concepts of law, Law and Society will give you a deeper insight into the role of law in everyday life. As well as forming part of the distance learning Bachelor of Law degree course, the Law and Society module can also be studied on a standalone basis as part of your personal development.

Law and Society

This module raises, and gives answers to, fundamental questions about the role of the law in society. It will introduce you to a range of theoretical perspectives and contemporary debates about the nature of law, such as the concept of the rule of law and ideas of citizenship. The principal aim of the module is to give a philosophical dimension to your studies – helping you relate the study of law to debates about the state and the nature of authority.

Assessment

There are a number of assessments that you complete as part of your coursework and forward to your academic tutor for grading and comments.

You'll also take a summative assessment at the end of your module. Exam venues are located across the UK and exams take place twice a year. Please note that there are additional assessment fees for each module.
