Governing Business Development

This module looks at how the exploitation of opportunities by business affects both the planet's ecological system and human communities, and considers ways in which such business development can be governed by both stakeholders and governments.

What does the module cover?

Understand the nature of small firms and appreciate the basic growth strategies of firms. Be aware of the importance and behaviour of transnational corporations (TNCs).  Examine the effects of business development on the ecological system and on human communities.  Study alternative ways in which business “success” might be assessed and how governments may seek to influence business development.

Assessment

You’ll complete two assessments.  The first assessment will involve you answering questions on a case study and will be worth 50% of your grade.  The second assessment will be a written exam lasting 1 hour and will also be worth 50% of your grade.
