Skills for Learning: Social Care is an ICS home study module that makes up part of a full honours social care degree.    

This home study module is the first of 24 parts you need to complete before gaining a social care degree. Skills for Learning: Social Care will prepare you by helping you to develop key skills such as essay writing, reading and note taking, sourcing information, critical thinking and IT skills.

Skills for Learning Social Care

This module is about how to learn more effectively. You’ll cover a range of different skill areas, including information technology, academic reading and writing, finding and using sources and study skills. It will allow you to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) that will help you reflect on your existing skills and identify gaps where you need to develop.

>Learning styles
>Stress management and work-life balance
>Continuing professional development
>Skills development – essay writing, effective reading and note taking, critical thinking and analysis, taking part in research, accessing sources of information, using computers and online resources

Assessment

There are a number of formative assessments that you complete as part of your study and forward to your academic tutor for grading and comments.

You’ll also take a summative assessment at the end of your module that determines your final mark.

30% Examination

Exam venues are located across the UK and exams take place in April and November.
