Crime and Justice - home study social care degree

Crime and Justice is an ICS home study module that makes up part of the honours social care degree.  

This home study module is about crime and the perceptions of justice. Studying towards a social care degree you will learn about the diversity of experience of crime and the justice system. Topics covered include youth crime, race and the criminal justice system, care and control and the diversity of criminals.

So, if you want to take a home study module and learn in your own time, Crime and Justice will allow you to develop the key knowledge required to go on to obtain a full social care degree.

Crime and Justice

Both the nature of crime, and different perspectives on justice, are explored in this module. You will critically examine a range of theoretical approaches to these much-debated subjects, including social, economic and political contexts and their explanations. The aim of the module is to develop your awareness of the diversity of experience of crime and the criminal justice system – focusing on crime among youth in particular.

Assessment

There are a number of formative assessments that you complete as part of your study and forward to your academic tutor for grading and comments.

You’ll also take a summative assessment at the end of your module that determines your final mark.
