Managing Resources in Healthcare
Deciding the best use of financial and human resources is an essential element of healthcare management. This module highlights the methods involved in acquiring, deploying and controlling resources, as well as accurately evaluating them. As well as covering financial topics such as resource allocation in the NHS, budgetary control, audit and accountability, you’ll examine issues such as workforce planning, staff appraisal and employment law.
What does the module cover?
Gain an understanding of how financial resources are allocated to and distributed within the NHS and learn the principles of budgetary control. Identify key elements of human resource management in health care, and learn about the concept of accountability. Overall you’ll learn how to relate the use of resources to outcomes, recognise the role of audit and know how to employ resources to good effect.

Assessment
In addition to completing a number of formative assessments as part of your coursework that you forward to your tutor, you’ll need to complete two summative assessments, each counting towards 50% of your final grade:

Powerpoint presentation based on a group work case study (600-700 word presentation + 1300-1400 word write-up)
