Development of Healthcare
Through this module, you’ll gain a better understanding of the structures that provide healthcare, as well as an appreciation of the influences that have created these structures. How did the NHS structure come about? What measures have shaped it? As well as looking at these topics, this module will examine and review issues that are currently influencing healthcare provision.
Main Topics of Study
>The 1834 Poor Law Amendment, the start of public health in the nineteenth century and issues surrounding poverty in the nineteenth century.
>The Liberal Government social measures in the early years of the twentieth century.
>The development of welfare between the wars and the Beveridge Report of 1942.
>The creation of the NHS in 1948. An understanding of the reforms to the NHS subsequent to it creation.
>An examination in detail of the major reforms of the 1990s and those of the New Labour Government.
Assessment
There are a number of formative assessments that you complete as part of your study and forward to your academic tutor for grading and comments.
You’ll also take a summative assessment at the end of your module that determines your final mark.
