Clinical Supervision
What you learn in this module will prepare you to be an effective clinical supervisor. Once you have completed the module, you’ll be able to choose an appropriate supervision model for your clinical practice – and give your reasons. By examining the political, professional and economic context of clinical supervision, and critically evaluating the range of models available, you’ll gain a deep understanding of the supervisory process.
What does the module cover?
You’ll explore the political, professional and economic context of clinical supervision. And, using the literature, develop a definition of clinical supervision relevant to your practice area. Once you’ve critically evaluated the range of models available for clinical supervision, you’ll choose an appropriate model for your clinical area, and state your rationale for this. Overall, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the process of supervision.

Nurse Registration or equivalent in a health and social care setting

Assessment
You’ll need to complete a number of formative assessments that you can forward to your tutor for comment and feedback. You’ll also be required to provide clinical supervision to a peer over 4 - 6 sessions. Your summative assessment involves writing a 4,000 word essay, using the theory of clinical supervision and a reflective diary.
