Personal & Professional Skills

Want to discover the secrets of effective learning?  This module is designed to build on the skills you’ll need to succeed, both in your academic studies and in your professional life.  You’ll have the opportunity to develop a Personal Development Portfolio (PDP) which will help you reflect on your existing skills and identify areas for development. 

What does the module cover?


Learn to interpret published data relevant to health and produce different types of written work appropriate to Health observing the conventions of academic writing including correct referencing.  You’ll develop an Academic Skills portfolio which will include your own position statement, information skills literature search exercise, and a key skills audit.  Your essay plan will include items such as a draft introduction, conclusion and annotated bibliography, plus a reflective statement, and a collection of best assignments.

Assessment


In addition to completing a number of formative assessments as part of your coursework that you forward to your tutor, you’ll need to complete three summative assessments:

Academic Skills (& Tutorials) Portfolio  50%

Information Technology Test    25%

Essay (500 words) + Research skills task (15% essay, 10% tasks)
