Skills for Social Care

Want to become a more effective learner? Then, this module will show you the way.  You’ll cover a range of different skill areas, including information technology, academic reading and writing, finding and using sources, and study skills.  What’s more, you’ll have the opportunity to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) that will help you reflect on your existing skills and identify gaps where you need to apply greater focus.

What does the module cover?

You’ll familiarise yourself with our IT systems, learn to communicate online and use basic computer packages relevant to Social Care.  Discover where and how to search resources relevant to Social Care, interpret and evaluate information.  Develop your report writing skills such as summarising, referencing and quoting correctly.  You’ll have the opportunity for group work practice too and time to reflect on and record your own learning and skills in a PDP.
