Research Skills for Social Care

This module will enable you to develop skills for academic learning, employability and research.  You’ll examine your position as a researcher, and develop skills in evaluating published research.  As well as this, you’ll cover methodologies and ethical issues that will shape your field work. You’ll also discover the personal skills required for managing your Level 3 project report and develop your skills in critical thinking and working independently.

What does the module cover?

You’ll learn vital skills in the research process relevant to Social Care, and how to select appropriate techniques for research in this subject – qualitative, quantitative or a mixture of both.  You’ll then plan a research project appropriate to a field of study, select and implement appropriate analytical techniques, and identify the nature and sources of information and data needed to write a research proposal and report.  Develop skills to constructively critique the research of others, identifying strengths and weaknesses in technique, analysis and conclusions.
