Research Methods

This module will introduce you to a critical knowledge and understanding of the role of research in healthcare.  You’ll learn the skills required for independent academic research, including review, analysis and self-expression in a chosen field of study.  You’ll also discover the personal skills required for managing a moderately large project, which will prepare you for the research project you’ll undertake at level three.

What does the module cover?

Identify the nature and sources of information and data needed to write a research proposal and report.  Learn to select techniques (qualitative and/or quantitative) appropriate for research in a field of study.  Find out how to conduct a literature review, and constructively critique the research of others.  Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to plan a research project of your choice relating to healthcare and communicate the findings in a written report.
