Health Promotion: Working with Groups
Effective health promotion is often based around partnership working with colleagues and target groups. Everything from training and education to establishing and supporting self-help groups is covered in this module. You’ll gain a critical understanding of the value and limitations of working in groups for health promotion work and get an insight into group work theory.
What does the module cover?
Gain an in-depth understanding of the theories of group development in relation to health promotion work. Critically analyse the use and effectiveness of working with groups in health promotion. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in a group research task to explore and report on a particular public health issue and its associated target group(s).

Assessment
In addition to completing a number of formative assessments as part of your coursework that you forward to your tutor, you’ll need to complete two summative assessments that will count towards your final grade:
Powerpoint presentation based on group work research task
(500 word presentation + 1000 word write-up) 40%
Reflective essay of group work practice (2,500 words) 60%
