As part of our Health Services Management degree, you will learn about public health policies and practices. This can include the management of health promotion policy on a local, national and international level.

Helping you to analyse current public health policies and practices, this module is one of the optional sections of the home study health course from ICS. When working towards a Health Services Management degree, learning how to interpret, develop and implement health promotion policy is of particular importance.

By choosing a home study health course with ICS, you will be able to study health promotion policy at your own pace, without the hassle of attending regular classes. Distance learning is a convenient and cost-effective way to learn about public health policies and practices.

Policies and Practices in Health (Option)

This module will help you reach a critical understanding of issues relating to public health policies and health promotion policy development - whether international, national or local.  As well as looking at historical influences, you’ll examine the role of stakeholders in policy development.  Health promotion policies will be critically reviewed and analyzed, and you’ll use examples from current health promotion practice to explore important issues.

>A critical examination of the wider issues surrounding policy development and implementation. An examination of the international, national and local health policies and the issues surrounding their development and implementation. 
>Development of public health policies with a focus on planning, budgeting, issues of access, settings for practice, resource allocation, ethical dimension, health inequalities and community development.
>A consideration of the role of multi-agency approaches to public health

Assessment

There are a number of formative assessments that you complete as part of your study and forward to your academic tutor for grading and comments.

You’ll also take a summative assessment at the end of your module that determines your final mark.
