Introduction to Management in Healthcare

With today’s technical advances, wide demographics and higher patient expectations, there are huge demands on finite healthcare resources.   It all means effective management is more challenging than ever.  This module will cover the skills needed to manage a quality, patient-centred health service, including the role of the manager, finance and the importance of leadership and people management.

What does the module cover?

Learn the basic principles of effective management and explain their relevance to healthcare.  Develop an understanding of the key features of the National Health Service.  Identify external influences on healthcare and key management issues currently challenging the health service.  You’ll have the opportunity to put you skills into practice to construct a profile of an effective healthcare manager and recognise some problem solving techniques.

Assessment

In addition to completing a number of formative assessments as part of your coursework that you forward to your tutor, you’ll also need to complete three summative assessments that will count towards your final grade.
