As part of your ICS Social Care degree you will study the Education and Everyday Life module, focusing on the links between learning and social needs. As a social care career can involve taking on the role of a mentor or educator, this may be an important part of your home study Social Care course.

If you choose a home study Social Care degree course with ICS, you can take the first steps to a social care career without disrupting current commitments. You will work in your own time and at your own pace. This does not mean you will be alone. As you work through your Social Care degree you will have the support of a dedicated ICS tutor. Education and Everyday Life

Those working in social care can play a major role as educators in everyday life – but this module also examines the limits, as well as the potential of this role. Beginning by considering education in its widest sense, you’ll consider a range of learning needs, including formal education, mentoring and basic skills.  You’ll also be invited to explore learning needs in the context of how they’re connected to social needs.

>Exploring connections between learning needs and social need
>The role of learning in social care as personal and community growth
>How our beliefs, expectations and experiences of learning and education may affect how we view others with different beliefs and expectations 

Assessment

There are a number of formative assessments that you complete as part of your study and forward to your academic tutor for grading and comments.

You’ll also take a summative assessment at the end of your module that determines your final mark.
